RepoAlerts
MCP server · free · no sign-up

Ask your AI what's rising on GitHub.

Plug RepoAlerts into Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or VS Code and your assistant finds real repos, with star counts that leave out fake-account farms, instead of guessing package names.

Server URLhttps://repoalerts.com/mcp
  • Streamable HTTP
  • No account, no API key
  • Read-only
  • Updated hourly

Why your AI needs it

  • AIs make up packages

Language models name repos and packages that don't exist, or that someone registered to catch exactly that mistake. RepoAlerts only answers with repos it tracks on GitHub, each with its link.

  • Stars you can trust

Stars can be bought. The radar checks who stars a repo and leaves out the ones fed by fake accounts, so the counts your AI sees are already cleaned.

  • Today, not last year

Models know GitHub as it was when they were trained. RepoAlerts tracks star growth every hour and cross-checks Hacker News, so your AI sees what's taking off this week.

Things to ask

Once it's connected, just ask. Your assistant picks the right tool.

  • What's rising on GitHub today in AI agents?
  • Find me a calendar MCP server I can self-host.
  • Is there a free Photoshop alternative for Mac that people actually use?
  • Check vercel/next.js on RepoAlerts before I upgrade.
  • Which local-first databases gained the most stars this week?
  • Open-source alternatives to Notion, sorted by how fast they're growing.

Good to know

Does it cost anything?
No. It's free, like the rest of RepoAlerts. There's a fair-use limit of 120 tool calls an hour per connection.
What does it see?
Only what you ask it to look up. It reads the public directory; it can't touch your files, accounts or code, and we don't keep your questions.
Where does the data come from?
From the RepoAlerts radar: public GitHub star events, cross-checked with Hacker News and with the accounts behind the stars. The same data as the directory.
